The Impossible Dream

As I've been think about turning a dream into reality, the lyrics have been popping up in my head of the song To Dream the Impossible Dream

To dream the impossible dream....
To reach the unreachable star....
This is my quest

To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far

Sometimes when we're set on a dream, there is a little voice lingering inside that might want to tell us we're on a fool's errand.
'What you want perfect health?'
'How many millions?' 'You want to get to the moon ....don't make me laugh!'

What do most of us want? Health, Wealth and Happiness with fantastic relationships. Nowt wrong with these dreams. Dream away. But then we have to set some goals that are attainable that will move us in the right direction. The dream is what will drive and motivate us. The goals are what will get us there. The greater the motivation, the more persistent we can be to pursuing those goals. We need to fire up those dreams and then get on with the business of going for the goal.

Make the goal something you really can achieve, even if its simply to find out more information about the dream. What resources do you have or can call on from others to help you?Decide how long you can expect to have achieved a step in your goal plan and make it your aim to action that plan within that timeframe.

If your dream is to be slim and glamorous. Hold that thought, that image, in your mind. Now what goals can you set around this? How much? By when? Is it achieveable? Who can help me?I want to start taking exercise... so is walking 2 days a week for 20 minutes starting on Monday achievable? Can I book myself in for a consultation with a stylist by Saturday? If my friend came with me would that keep me motivated?

If the dream is to have a happier marriage, is it achievable to spend 10 minutes each day just sitting and chatting without arguments, to go out once a week by yourselves beginning in Friday, to do something or say something nice to each other once a day?

The point is to break up the impossible dream into small specific achievable goals whether the dream is to create lightbulbs, find a cure for cancer, become CEO of a company, dance with Brad Pitt, have your dream home or whatever, and to consider what goals you can put in place to get you there.

Here are some quotes to inspire.

There's not telling what you can do when you get inspired by (goals). There's no telling what you can do when you believe in them. There's no telling what will happen when you act upon them. - Jim Rohn

You'll fail at a 100% of the goals you don't set. - Mark Victor Hansen

When a goal matters enough to a person, that person will find a way to accomplish what at first seemed impossible. - Nido Qubein

Think little goals and expect little achievements. Think big goals and win big success. - David J. Schwartz

Crystallize your goals. Make a plan for achieving them and set yourself a deadline. Then, with supreme confidence, determination and disregard for obstacles and other people's criticisms carry out your plan - Paul Meyer. Let us take it as read that he means goals not harmful to self or others.

Blessings for today
1.I rapturously sing the praises of trees. At this time of the year, I often catch my breath with the beauty of the changing leaves and its a blessing indeed for me to live in an environment where there are so many around me.
2.I went to an Asian food supermarket yesterday and I was in awe of the vast array of different kinds of foods, spices etc. and I thought that from just one culture (or indeed many) comes the wisdom, skills and experience that allows me such rich choice for culinary delight.
3. The smiles I received back from the women I encountered out on the streets. People I did not know and from cultures I was barely familiar with, with whom this brief exchange was a moment of glow.
